Bukchon Hanok Village is one of traditional area in Korea. It is locate in seoul, near the Jongno. Bukchon is not a limited area. It is just group of many towns like Sogyeokdong, Sagan-dong, Gyedong etc. There are a lot of nice views and great restaurant. because of it, Bukchon has become a good travel stage in Korea

Actually, most of Hanok in Bukchon is not a traditional Korean house. Traditional Hanok is big and solemn. Bukchon’s Hanok is smaller than the others and it doesn’t give us a feeling like grand or quiet. Instead of them, it feels cute, vital etc.

-Bukchon’s Hanoks

Bukchon’s Hanok doesn’t use for house. but it’s expenditure is a cultured-place like cafe, restaurant, gallery. They are new typed Hanok with new typed Korean traditional system.

Bukchon is the place that gives us a fresh feelings even though they are located in center of urban environment. Bukchon’s beauty, is come from differences with others.

> Have you heard about the festival named ‘Seoul Comic World’? Seoul Comic World is held by The Comic World Committee, twice a month. An area of festival is not fixed. The committee often rents a large place to open the festival around the Yang-Jae, Hakyoul station. like COAX. This event includes ‘Costume Play Stage’, ‘Private Comic Magazine Contest’, ‘Animation Song Competition’, ‘Animation Group Market’ etc. Additionally, there are ‘Minor Markets on street that sell some character’s figures(character shaped dolls) and some things came out in animation. Especially when festival is held on Hakyoul station, many costume players(cosplayer) take pictures next to a small river around the complex.

>Take out your goods – ‘Animation Group Market‘
‘Animation Group Market‘ is the main stream of the festival. This market is held in most space of festival and is kept from the festival’s beginning to ending. It is made up of many groups that is made by people who have a same liking. They give extra fee to Comic World Committee for borrow a specific, small space and open their own shops on there. The usual goods are mobile phone accessories, tiny mirrors, paper bags and some cartoons magazines that they create or remake. more than 150 groups open their shops, and sell a many kinds of things connected with each group’s name or image. So, if a buyer doesn’t have a certain goods to buy, then it is better taking a stroll than trying to find out vague things in own mind. Some popular group’s store is opened in a larger place than common group’s stores, because a lot of people comes to buy things in there and make a line. So Comic World Comitee allows them a larger place. Most articles are about 1000 won. In fact, they are pretty expensive than usual goods in circumference stores because they are printed with a special illustration. But buyers never say that it is expensive. They just realize the group’s effort. This is why they never say the word ‘expensive’.

>Sing to own soul – ‘Animation Song Competition’
‘Animation Song Competition’ is held in a hall’s stage in second day at 1:30. Participants thank for by a party from spectators. Judges appreciate participants for things like originality, ability, humor. Participants get a high score by imitating an animation’s opening UCC or singing a song very well. Rarely, there is a winner by showing a special or queer-looking dance and he wins a prize. The winner’s prize is a gift pack or free entrance ticket for Seoul Comic World.

>Be proud of your capability – ‘Private Comic Magazine Contest’
‘Private Comic Magazine Contest’ is one of most simple programs in Seoul Comic World. Its ranking is ranked by Comic World Committee. Selected magazines are announced in guide books of next month Seoul Comic World. Process of ‘Private Comic Magazine Contest’ is very simple, but even though it’s simplicity, this prize is glory to a magazine to be won and honor to magazine-making group.

>Display your form – ‘Costume Play Stage’
The most popular event is ‘Costume Play Stage’. (Before we talk about the event, the costume play means ‘acting like a target character’. Cosplayer has to wear his character’s cloth, carry it’s props, and mimic it’s way of talking, behavior, personality etc.) ‘Costume Play Stage‘ is the event that shows cosplayer’s acting ability of imitating a target character. Cosplayers join this event in group or single and take pride in their own costume play ability. Imitating characters is not an easy job because animation characters have strong individuality. Also, there are many queer-looking characters. But cosplayer do their work with passions about animation. Even there is a person who tries two characters in one day.

>Major minor – ‘Minor Markets’
‘Minor Markets’ are on the street. They have just owner’s small chair and character’s figure, character illust notebook, and some goods came out in animation. Sometimes, there are Japanese magazines next to notebooks. Notebooks in notebook minor market are 2000 won or 4000 won except ‘Death Note‘, 1000 won that came out on animation named ‘Death Note’. Character’s figure has many shapes, but a few people buy it because it’s expensive, so it is hard to see the person who buyes it. they also have ‘Rozenmaiden’s ring’, ‘Alchemist’s timepiece’, ‘Naruto’s knife’ and ‘Yu-Gi-Oh’s cards’ etc. They are usually sold to cosplayers. ‘Minor Market’ has a many purchasers too. It is not minor, but people call them ‘Minor Market’.

The animation is closed with main entertainment of 21C, like TV and computer . So we have a fun with it and have an interest naturally. Because of it, animation is one of topics that could talked friendly by people all over the world.
Korea doesn’t have much festival about animation. But it doesn’t mean that Koreans are not much interested in animation. Korea is showing its interest by making animations like ‘Ghost Messenger’. Also, people are trying to develop our animation field by joining some clubs, making a blog about animation, watching animations on the internet and enjoying festivals like Seoul Comic World. And we can join the best Korean animation festival, Seoul Comic World if you have a passion, interest in animation and 4000won for entrance.

>Jeongjeon makes up of 19 rooms. It originally has 16 rooms but it was burnt during Korea-Japan war in 1592-1598. there has been 19 rooms since 1608. In this place, people have held a memorial service in every seasons. But now people do on every third Sunday in every month. Our country designated this as intangible culture assets.
>Yeongnyeongjeon consists of 16 room also, It had 6 rooms originally. It was also burnt in Korea-Japan war with Jeongjeon. So it was rebuilt and had 10 rooms in 1608. Now it has 16 rooms. There are 19 king and 30 queen memorial tablets in Jeongjeon and 15 king and 17 queen memorial tablets in Yeongnyeongjeon.Beside them, it keeps the last Chosun dynasty descendant, Lee-Un couple.
>Jongmyo institution which was introduce from ancient China dynasty named 은. This institution was accepted by Joseon and changed to new system. Korean system was very different from that of China. Jongmyo has 9 memorial tablets in china, but Jongmyo of Korea has every tablets of Joseon dynasty.
>There is difference of making buildings between two countries. Jongmyo of China has 9 rooms but Jongmyo of korea has 19 rooms in only Jeongjeon. Jongmyo of korea has long shape of building when it is seen in front side. this building is very rare shape which is never seen on any countries. Jongmyo has many particular buildings but each buildings have a line symmetry and it has a roofs and capitals which are different from China. Because once upon a time in Korea, order, class and courtesy are basic conception of behavior. So Jeongjeon was built with higher roofs and thicker capitals than Yeongnyeongjeon. Jongmyo which is very great is called to Parthenon in orient.
>People hold colorful event in Jongmyo which is very original. The events make up of majesty dance and music which is called Jongmyojeryeak (Jongmyo Royal Ancestral Confucian Memorial Ceremony Music). Jongmyojeryeak consists of Botaepyeong and Jeongdaeeop. People play Botaepyeong for kings who famous for education and learning and Jeongdaeeop for kings who try to reduce Joseon’s power. these events are held in every third Sunday. They have been lasted since 500 years. We taken pride in them.
>Jongmyo is a tangible asset which our country chose. Jeongjeon is one of national treasures No.227. Jongmyojeryeak is also important intangible asset No.1 and Jongmyojerye (Jongmyo Royal Ancestral Confucian Memorial Ceremony) is intangible asset No.57. we preserve them preciously. UNESCO conference designated Jongmyo of world’s inheritance, December in 1995. Jongmyo is precious inheritance which our ancestors handed down. Our Koreans take pride in these assets. Jongmyo is not the place which become palace when kings and queens are alive. Jongmyo is the place which become palace after kings and queens die.
